About Jacob Bunting, ARCHITECT, LEED-AP BD&C
Adventurer
I love the outdoors and have an insatiable tendency to explore. I grew up on a small peach farm in Northern California in a house that was designed and built by my father. It was here in the foothill of the Sierra Mountains that I gained a foundation of hard work, showing respect to others, and a proactive and optimistic outlook that is forged into my character.
Artist
My whole life, I always wanted to be an artist like my mother. I watched her create objects in a wide array of mediums from nothing more than an idea in her head to a beautiful display of talent. During high school, I took all of the art classes that the school offered and became one of my teachers favorite students whom she still remembers to this day. I've submitted prize winning artwork into county and state fairs. This love and passion for light, color, and different mediums can be seen in other aspects of my life and in my architecture.
Architect
As I entered into college I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Growing up I knew that I wanted to be an artist, but I also knew that I couldn't earn a living and raise a family drawing pretty pictures the rest of my life. I looked into a few different possible career paths but none felt right to me. On a weekend trip to visit my cousins, my wife and I got to stay in their custom built cabin in the mountains of Utah. As I explored all the the levels and rooms of this creative edifice, my artistic passion for light, color, and forms came out and I felt like a kid on a big adventure, seeking after the unknown. At that very moment the Architect in me emerged and I knew that this is what I wanted to the rest of my life. I wanted to design spaces that will evoke emotions in others. Ever since that moment I have never lost that drive and desire to create and inspire.
Character
I am constantly re-evaluating my self and my compass in life. I have come up with three characteristics traits that I want to be known for:
I have a deep passion for learning and bettering myself. Others have been amazed at how I can read a particular book and be able to apply my learning right away. Graduation from college is suppose to be a joyous occasion, however for me it meant the end of my formal training and a release into the field for me to continue to learn and to grow on my own. Every time I climb onto a branch of life, I am faced with decision of what branch I will choose next.
